Our story began in 1946.
Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Bauman started Critchfield Church in the Clay Run School House, holding the first service on February 24, 1946. Within three years, the congregation began work on the present church building, using materials gathered from the property and surrounding area.
The former Rogers Mill C&MA Church began under Rev. Daniel Breegle in William Gesekey's barn. After years of serving their communities together—including their first combined Daily Vacation Bible School in 1969—the two congregations merged.
Critchfield also shares history with Scullton Alliance Church. For a number of years, the two churches were a combined charge and shared a pastor. Today, that heritage of faith and service continues.
